A walk though history.... The Media
evolution WILL be televised!
Remember it was the The Abraham Zapruder 8mm film that showed Kennedy getting
shot. This was one of the most shocking documented events in history...... it
was NOT on 35 mm or even 16 mm... it was on a 8mm Bell and Howell home movie
camera the 60's equiv. of a camera phone, a palmcorder or PDA!
Although we enjoy our large cameras we must remember that it is not always the
tools we use, or the training we have... sometimes it is being in the right
place at the right time.

GET A BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW DOWNTOWN PARKING GARAGE
GLENDALE, Ariz. --
When the first vehicles pull in to park in the new downtown Glendale
parking garage this winter, they will be pulling into a structure
boasting 11,000 square feet of retail and office space with five
parking levels and beautiful brick façade reminiscent of Glendale's
roots. But you can see it now in its infancy thanks to the up-above
view offered at a new viewing station.
The viewing station, located in the McCarthy offices on the third
floor the Bank of America Building (5800 W. Glenn Drive, suite 330),
will be open from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. This
station will provide great views of the project during all of its
critical stages.
Construction of the new 600-space downtown parking structure began
in March and is scheduled to be completed in January 2008.
This new parking structure is replacing a 140-space surface parking
lot. It will have one level of underground parking, retail and
restaurants at ground level and three parking levels above. The
retail area will be on the north side of the structure, adjacent to
Catlin Court. Entrance and exits will front 58th Drive and 58th
Avenue.
It will be the third parking garage in downtown Glendale.

Barricaded Subject
GLENDALE, Ariz. 2/27/07– A suspected car thief eluded Glendale
Police this afternoon when he ran from detectives, giving a local mother
and her children a scare, and disrupting a neighborhood for about two
hours.
At 3:45 pm on Tuesday (2/27),
Detective Sgt. Brandon Blanco was looking for stolen vehicles in south
Glendale. He located one,
occupied by a male driver and a female passenger, near 67th
Avenue and Bethany Home Road. He
followed the car as it turned west onto Montebello Avenue from 67th
Ave. The driver presumably
determined that the police were behind him, although Sgt. Blanco was in an
unmarked car. The suspect
quickly pulled over in the 6700 block of W. Montebello Avenue and ran from
the stolen car. Sgt. Blanco
stayed with the car to deal with the female passenger.
She was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect ran to an apartment at
6740 W. Montebello and went inside. A
woman and three children were inside, but ran out when the suspect
entered. Police surrounded
the apartment in an effort to contain the suspect.
The SWAT team responded and efforts were made to locate and arrest
the suspect. Three adjoining
apartments were evacuated. Regrettably, the suspect was not located, leading police to
believe he was able to flee the area before the perimeter was established.
The suspect is Patrick Romero
(8/12/1980). He is an
Hispanic male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 220 pounds, with closely shaved
hair. Detectives want to
speak with him regarding his use of the stolen car, and for trespassing in
the apartment.
It is not known if Romero was armed at
the time of the incident. Romero
did not threaten or assault the woman and children in the apartment.
The woman indicated she does not know Romero.
The role of the female passenger is still under investigation at
this time.
